200 Series Conversion Kits for Perma-Shield® Narroline® Windows

Andersen manufactured 200 Series Perma-Shield® Narroline® windows from 1968 to 2012. Those windows can be updated with double-hung window conversion kits, designed specifically to upgrade existing Narroline® windows, turning them into easy-to-clean, tilt-wash windows with Low-E/Low-E4® glass.

The conversion kit can be installed quickly and easily since you won't have to demolish or modify the window's trim.

Why Convert Your 200 Series Perma-Shield® Narroline® Windows?

Increase Energy Efficiency

The conversion kit's window sashes are made with Low-E, Low-E Sun, Low-E Tempered, or Low-E Finelight glass. Andersen's Low-E glass reflects heat in the summer, making your windows 56% more energy efficient in summer,* and keeps heat inside during the winter, making your windows 45% more energy efficient than ordinary dual-pane glass, reducing heating and cooling bills.

Easy-to-Clean Tilt Feature

The tilt-wash feature allows you to tilt the windows into your home to conveniently clean both sides of the glass.

When you transition your window with a conversion kit, you can upgrade your window sashes with new hardware, new interior and exterior color, or grilles.

The installation process is simple. Since the kit components are sized to fit your current window frame, there is minimal disruption in your home to install the new upper and lower sashes, balancers, jamb liners, and hardware.

Identify a 200 Series Perma-Shield® Narroline® Window

200 Series Perma-Shield Narroline Windows have:

  • Two window sashes that slide up and down
  • Two nylon cords in the side jambs, the sides of the window frame
  • An Andersen logo etched onto the glass
  • A window handle that's recessed into lower window sash 

If your windows have all four of those features, then you have Andersen Perma-Shield Narroline windows, which can be converted into easy-to-clean tilt-wash double-hung windows using our 400 Series conversion kit.

Each Conversion Kit Includes:

  • An upper and lower sash with your choice of Low-E/Low-E4® glass
  • Two jamb liners, with balancers
  • New lock and keeper

Visible Glass Dimensions

  1. Measure the visible glass dimension, the unobstructed glass you can see and touch within the frame, of your existing window.
    – See Measure Andersen® Window or Patio Door Glass or follow the YouTube® video below for additional assistance to measure the width and length of your window's glass.
  2. Use your width and length measurement to filter through conversion kit options at the Andersen Parts Store.   

Unit Sizing Code

  1. Measure the visible glass dimension, the unobstructed glass you can see and touch within the frame, of your existing window. 
    – See Measure Andersen® Window or Patio Door Glass for additional assistance to measure the width and length of your window's glass.
  2. After you measure your window sash's visible glass dimension, use Page 3 of this guide, Measurement Guide for Tilt-Wash Conversion, to determine your window's sizing code.
  3. Once you know your unit's sizing code, use it to filter through conversion kits at the Andersen Parts Store.
