A Sonoma farmhouse merges indoor/outdoor living

Double Liftslide Doors and E-Series windows and doors work in tandem to create a home where the boundaries between indoors and outdoors can come and go on demand.

Double Liftslide Doors accentuate the connection to the landscape and offer seamless access to the curated patio, pool, and outdoor living spaces in this California farmhouse. With so much glass, just being in the home feels like being on vacation. Nick Lee of Nick Lee Architecture structured the home around an open concept space bookended by Liftslide Doors that offer a natural path from indoors to outdoors. The choice of two glass wall systems across from each other "activates” patios on both the north and south sides of the home essentially creating one giant indoor/outdoor room. That easy connection to the outdoors continues into the more private spaces. E-Series windows and patio doors, including many joined units, keep the focus on the sky, the trees and the mountains.

The interior of the home blends a bright modern feel with the more traditional aspects of a farmhouse offered by the E-Series windows and doors.

“The Liftslide doors allowed us to extend the living spaces in and out connecting with the views to the north and to the pool and patio to the south.”

Two Andersen® Liftslide Doors connect a front yard to backyard through an indoor living area

The Liftslide Doors offer a flush threshold with a high-performance drainage track, which allows for an inconspicuous transition from indoors to outdoors. These features create an opportunity for a seamless indoor/outdoor space with assurances that the doors will perform in weather.

“A big reason that we like the Liftslide by Andersen is because of the flush threshold with the high-performance drainage track. This allows for an easy transition from inside to out along with the peace of mind that the door will perform in weather.”
