Testing the limits
We put our products through hundreds of different tests, pushing them far beyond standards for one simple purpose: so you can build homes that last. From full walls of water to overly repetitive open and closing to firing a 2x4 at coastal products, passing these tests isn’t our end goal, it’s where we start setting new standards. It’s how we prepare our products not just for today, but also well into the future.
Water Test
Our water test does more than simulate a little rain. It simulates 8 inches of rain. Per hour. And with 55 mph winds. We forcefully spray water at our windows while applying negative pressure to the backside to identify any weak points in the sill, jamb liners, head jamb, and corners to make sure homes stay dry. And our standards are tough. Like, not-a-single-drop-can-get-through tough.
Impact Test
Meet the impact cannon. It launches a 2x4 at our windows at 50 feet per second to simulate real-world storm debris. And we don't fire just once, we strike specific spots across the unit, including six inches from the corner. Then we push even further, applying roughly 4,000 pounds of pressure to simulate 180-mph winds. The rule is simple: The inner pane must not be breached.
Open-Close Test
This is where we simulate product operation. Not just years of it, but an entire lifetime of it. Windows go up and down, doors swing and slide shut, locks throw and release. Not just 100 times, but 100,000 times. And we don’t just check hinges, we check every moving part. If the product shows any wear, sticking, or unsealing, it’s back to the drawing board.
