Modern Log Home

It was love at first site for two new homeowners and a Sears catalogue cabin from the 1920s in Hudson Valley, New York.

The home had been lovingly updated over the years with two additions (which included new Andersen® windows in the 80s), leaving it feeling a bit incongruous.

When planning renovations, the homeowners wanted to keep the rustic feel of the original log cabin while maximizing views of the lake and giving the home a more modern look with mid-century style furnishings from West Elm.

The sun room is an instant favorite.

The black 400 Series casement windows lining the walls and four panel A-Series gliding patio door, provide a contemporary look and allow beams of sunlight to stream through, helping to bring the outdoors in, extending their entertaining space to their deck and seamlessly blending the two spaces together.

The kitchen

The kitchen and adjacent dining room juxtapose old with new, complete with marble-like Cambria® Ella™ and Winterbourne™ countertops and 400 Series picture and awning windows that frame the outdoors as the homeowners entertain guests and congregate around the kitchen island.
