Andersen Employees Inspire Young Learners through JA in a Day

With our employees’ support, more than 450 students at Lily Lake Elementary in Stillwater, Minn., and approximately 350 students from Andersen Elementary in Bayport made a connection between what they are learning in school and the real world. The volunteers shared their skills, experiences and energy with the students to help prepare them to be financially literate, workforce ready and entrepreneurial in their thinking.

JA in a Day involves 1-2 volunteers per classroom teaching lessons related to themselves, families, community, city, region and the nation, depending on grade level.

“I have been recruiting volunteers to teach JA in a Day for more than four years,” said Mindy Sachs, community relations specialist. “The students look forward to this annual event, as do our employees, who return year after year to participate in this educational opportunity.”

Andersen Corporation has supported Junior Achievement for more than 15 years through volunteerism, scholarships and charitable donations. Andersen Corporate Foundation has been supporting Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest since 1979, and recently provided a $75,000 grant for the new Junior Achievement BizTown facility in St. Paul.
