Designer Linda Zaccheo loves to design windows like this -- beautiful and functional. Andersen splits these gigantic windows into workable sections.
Project Team
Design: Linda Zaccheo, Armstrong Planning & Design.
Builder: Brian Visser, owner, Visser Construction, Inc.
Market: Boise, Idaho.
Project Profile
Description: Add drama and light to an existing home with an Andersen® feature window.
Scope: Living room
Type: Remodel.
Location: Boise, Idaho.
NarrativeKey considerations: Designer Zaccheo hesitates to use adjoining windows because too often the units don’t work together. But "Andersen stock products are designed to match all the way down the line," she says. The choice of Andersen windows gave Zaccheo the design freedom to create the effect she wanted.
Result: The owners are delighted with the finished product.
Highlight: The clients called for Andersen products. "What sealed the choice was that the owners really loved Andersen windows’ performance and value."
Testimonials:
"You look at a window like this and think, ‘How’d they lift that?’ But Andersen made it easy by providing smaller, manageable sections that adjoin perfectly." -- Linda Zaccheo
"Andersen Windows has a clear advantage over other manufacturers when it comes to hardware and ease of operation. Windows and doors open and close smoothly and quietly." -- Brian Visser
Execution: You’d think a window like this would be easy to break and hard to install, says Brian Visser. But Andersen splits these gigantic windows into workable sections.
Solution: Zaccheo combined stock casements, awning windows and an Andersen Circle Top™ window to make this stunning feature window.
Design Solution
Ease of Operation Sells Homeowners
There was never a question about which manufacturer would supply the windows for this project. "Andersen was the client’s choice," says Linda Zaccheo. "Since the rest of the home already had Andersen products, we would have leaned toward them anyway for a cohesive look. But what sealed the choice was that the owners really loved Andersen windows’ performance and value. We knew going in they would be delighted living with the finished product."
It’s not unusual for homeowners to insist on Andersen products after living with them for several years. "Andersen has a clear advantage over other manufacturers when it comes to hardware and ease of operation," says Brian Visser. "Windows and doors open and close smoothly and quietly. Those are the benefits owners learn about over time."
Featured Andersen Products
This feature window is made from a combination of products right out of the Andersen catalog. Above and below the row of casements are rows of awning windows. Topping the feature window is a Circle Top unit.
