Hand-Crafted Entranceways Showcase the Look and Feel of Artistry, Intricacy and Extraordinary Beauty

 

BAYPORT, Minn. (Jan. 13, 2005) - Architects and builders now have more choices when specifying KML by Andersen™ entranceways to highlight their homes. New for 2005 are additional designs, sizes and decorative art glass options that will add a signature element to their homes. Each KML by Andersen entranceway is custom manufactured, creating an inviting enhancement to any home.

KML by Andersen has added a new 3’6" standard width, in addition to the previously available 3’0" width for all entranceways. The 3’6" width addresses emerging customer needs as larger doors have become more popular in many luxury home styles. Customers can select 46 different panel styles, in 6’8" and 8’0" heights, in this new standard width. Custom styles and sizes also are available.

Several popular arts and crafts-style door designs are now standard offerings in the KML by Andersen line. Inspired by fine architecture and furniture design, these doors reflect this popular American style with flat panels and classic proportions. They are available in 3’0" and new 3’6" standard widths, and 6’8" and 8’0" heights. Customers can select from seven standard wood species, including alder, Douglas fir and maple, and add optional decorative art glass, including Andersen art glass patterns. Matching sidelights and transoms also are available.

KML by Andersen has expanded its optional decorative insulating art glass selection with 15 exclusive designs that offer a range of traditional and modern architectural styles to complement KML by Andersen entranceways, sidelights and transoms. These designs include five existing Andersen art glass patterns.

Design Choices KML by Andersen™ entranceways are hand-crafted with virtually limitless features and options to choose from:

• A wide variety of sizes, shapes and wood species – Customers may specify custom sizes, shapes, designs, options, and wood species – including alder, cherry, Douglas fir, mahogany, maple, oak and pine. Large custom radius entranceways are a particularly beautiful design statement.
• Exterior – KML by Andersen entranceways are available with either wood or clad-wood exteriors. Heavy exterior aluminum cladding is available in many standard colors. It also can be custom ordered to match customer specifications. KML by Andersen entranceways also may be ordered with different wood species on the interior and the exterior, allowing for more design flexibility.
• Glazing – Glazing options include Low-E as well as a wide variety of colored and patterned glass, including insulating decorative art glass.
• Grilles – Removable wood grilles, grilles between the glass, and simulated divided light grilles are offered in a wide variety of profiles, patterns and designs.
• Optional Hardware – Designers may specify their own hardware, or select optional multi-point locking hardware in satin chrome, polished chrome, polished brass, dark bronze, white and pewter.
• Door panels – Doors are available in a standard 1 ¾" thickness, or thicker 2 ¼" door panel for those who prefer the look and feel of a heavier estate style door.
• Hinges – Standard zinc dichromate plain bearing hinges or optional ball bearing hinges in satin stainless steel, white, polished brass and dark bronze are available.
• Operation – Inswing or outswing door sills in aluminum, bright brass or bronze tread finishes with an oak sill cap are available. Inswing door sills are adjustable. A low-rise commercial door sill also is available.
• Complementary Sidelights and Transoms – Sidelights and transoms are available in many shapes and may be added to any KML by Andersen entranceway to allow architects and contractors to create distinctive, light-filled entranceway combinations.
