Gliding patio doors have at least one door panel that glides smoothly past another door panel to save room where you need it—inside or out. With their wide wood profiles, Andersen® 400 Series Frenchwood® gliding patio doors give your home the old-world character of traditional French doors along with the convenience and space savings no hinged door can provide. And, because they’re Andersen patio doors, they’re just as effective in sealing drafts and moisture out of your home.
Our Andersen 400 Series includes the following glass options:
Outstanding overall thermal performance for climates where both heating and cooling costs are a concern. Standard.
Window grilles offer an extra design touch to enhance any architectural style or express the taste of any homeowner. Andersen® 400 Series windows and patio doors offer a variety of grille types and grille patterns, making it easy to fit both your style and your home’s. For a signature look, we’ll work with you to create custom grille designs.
A sample of our patterns for casement windows is shown below. Many more are available. Patterns for other windows or patio doors may differ, depending on product type and size. For details, see your Andersen dealer.
Gliding insect screens feature Delrin® injected rollers with self-contained leveling adjusters.

The retractable insect screen is installed on the interior of the patio door and opens side-to-side across the width of the opening. When the insect screen is not in use, it neatly retracts into a small canister.
A six-pin cylinder lock allows the patio door to be locked and unlocked from the exterior.
Optional for all Andersen® gliding patio doors, these special locks provide an extra measure of security when the door is in a locked position. Available finishes coordinate with our door hardware.
A ramped sill provides a smooth transition from interior to exterior and can be used with a retractable insect screen.
An oak or maple threshold finishes the interior sill, and provides a smooth transition from exterior to interior.
An aluminum sill support locks into a channel under the sill and ties back into the wall, offering greater support to the outermost sill section.
Control your heating and cooling costs by choosing the best type of glass for your climate and performance needs.
