Awning windows are hinged at the top and open outward. Usually wider than they are tall, their entire sash opens to provide full side-to-side ventilation, allowing them to catch breezes from any direction. They are often used above, below or alongside stationary windows to provide ventilation because, when open, their sash can function like a roof, providing a measure of shelter from light rain.
Andersen® 400 Series awning windows start with a design that is extremely energy efficient. Add to that a solid-wood sash covered inside and out by low maintenance Perma-Shield® cladding to protect against water damage. Then give them rich, natural pine interiors for windows that are as beautiful as they are functional and reliable.
Our Andersen 400 Series includes the following glass options:
Satisfies coastal wind-borne debris code requirements, lowers sound transmission, resists forced entry and is energy-efficient. Tempered also available.
Offers the structural and safety benefits of Low-E4® Impact-Resistant Glass while reducing heat transfer and greatly reduces UV rays. Tempered also available.
Window grilles offer an extra design touch to enhance any architectural style or express the taste of any homeowner. Andersen® 400 Series windows and patio doors offer a variety of grille types and grille patterns, making it easy to fit both your style and your home’s. Choose aluminum insect screens or TruScene® insect screens, which provide a clearer view, help bring the outdoors into your home and are less noticeable from the street.
An electric operator enhanced by PowerAssist is especially convenient for clerestory or hard-to-reach locations. This easy-to-use operator opens and closes with the touch of a button.
Stormwatch® structural enhancements meet most coastal U.S. building code requirements, improve energy efficiency, and resist wear from salt water and storms.
