Since its first season aired in 1986, Hometime – a home improvement program airing on Hometime® Builds a Homeowner’s Dream with Lifelong Quality using Andersen® A-public television and in national syndication – has often turned to Andersen Windows to provide the picture-perfect finish to a project. A recent new construction project highlighted how Andersen A-Series windows, doors and exterior trim enhances the home’s exterior appearance with low maintenance, energy efficient solutions that offer hints on what can be found inside.
For this project, the Hometime crew worked in partnership with Alexander Design Group and Richard J. Elsen Construction, to build a French Chateau-styled home in Minnesota on a one-acre lot backing up to a state-established trail system. The lot size and its adjacency to parkland easily accommodated the sweeping lines and grand-scale façade dictated by the French Chateau style. It was left to Hometime to show viewers how to create the timeless appearance using brand new, state-of-the-art materials.
Specifying the ideal windows for the home design meant long, tall windows with narrow grilles in keeping with the style. Classic, flat exterior trim with a decorative cornice head and extended sill nose from Andersen completes the home’s traditional look. The Hometime team found the perfect fit in Andersen A-Series windows and doors in dark bronze with matching Andersen Exterior Trim.
“From the exterior perspective, there are so many configurations you can work with in the A-Series products to provide the right size for the look,” said host Dean Johnson. “The different (grille) applications also communicate a lot about the home’s style.”
The A-Series window construction was also a big selling point for Hometime®. “The way the window is constructed and installs makes it really weathertight, and it’s so easy to put in, which is a huge plus,” said Johnson. “And the variety of casing options that are also low maintenance is another big deal for us. The fact that the homeowner won’t have to worry about repainting everything on the house is a compelling point. You just snap it on, but the elegance of this system is that it doesn’t look snapped on at all.”
Even from the interior of the home, the A-Series windows continue to deliver the look and feel the homeowner wanted. “You don’t really see any plastic or vinyl,” explained Johnson. “It has the look of a solid wood, established, old fashioned window like you’d see walking into an old railroad baron’s mansion. It looks amazing, and would be wonderful in any style of home, whether you want a contemporary style or something that takes a totally different direction.”
Season after season, Hometime has shown there’s a variety of uses for Andersen® windows, from replacement to new construction. With the variety of window sizes, grille patterns, and an array of trim surrounds, Hometime found a new favorite in the A-Series product line for effortless style and easy maintenance.
