Andersen advertises on national TV for the first time.

1986

The company continually provides architects and builders with new product solutions for homes and commercial buildings - ranging from tree-high feature windows to arching elliptical tops.

1991

Building No. 46 opens. Total plant area is 2,766,060 square feet on 63.5 acres, with 3,700 employees.

1992

Jerold Wulf named CEO.

1993

Sarah Andersen, great-granddaughter of Hans, is elected chair of the board.

1995

Andersen introduces another first: Fibrex™ material, a revolutionary composite made of wood fiber reclaimed from Andersen manufacturing and vinyl.

The new window replacement business, Renewal by Andersen, opens in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. The business offers homeowners a start-to-finish process that includes in-home sales consultation, measurement and manufacturing of custom windows made from Fibrex material, precise installation and warranties on windows and service.

1997

Andersen Corporation acquires long-time partner Aspen Research Corporation, a respected leader in material testing, research and product development.

Andersen's Pollution Prevention program results in significant reduction of waste and pollution since 1988.

·A sawdust collection system reclaims 99% of the sawdust, which helps heat the factory and becomes raw material for Fibrex.

·Recycling programs reduce landfilled solid waste by 96%.

·Volatile airborne emissions are reduced by more than 50%.

·Andersen acheives 100% conversion from solvent-based contact adhesives to structural hot-melt and water-borne adhesives.

·Well-water consumption is reduced by more than 50%.

1998

Don Garofalo named President and CEO.

Ground broken for new Renewal by Andersen facility in Cottage Grove, Minnesota.

Andersen continues a strong relationship with Habitat for Humanity by sending more than 1000 window units and truckloads of volunteers to the Jimmy Carter Project in Houston, Texas.

1999

Renewal by Andersen, a subsidiary of Andersen Corporation, celebrates the grand opening of its new 227,000 square foot manufacturing and headquarters facility in Cottage Grove in June. The business now is poised to meet the rapidly growing window replacement needs of home owners.

   

Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson helps Andersen Corporation break ground on its new window assembly plant in Menomonie in July 1999. The 212,000 square foot facility is expected to be complete in spring of 2000.

In August 1999, Andersen Corporation completes the purchase of Morgan Products, Ltd., the largest distributor of Andersen windows nationwide. For the first time, Andersen will operate with a combination of company-owned and independent distributors in the U.S. in order to strengthen the company's distribution system. The acquisition brings Andersen employment to more than 6000.
