The latching mechanism on the 200 Series Tilt-Wash Double-Hung window enables the window to open inward for easy cleaning. A tilt latch can inadvertently open when the lower sash is moved upward. If both of the tilt latches on the lower sash open inadvertently, the sash may tip inward. This is a potential safety hazard.
If the lower sash tips inward, it may hit a person or an object next to the window and/or the glass in the lower sash may break. This may cause injury.
Andersen intends to replace the tilt latches on the lower sash with stronger, dual-action tilt latches. The replacement latches solve this potential safety hazard. Andersen's field service group will replace the tilt latches at no charge. A homeowner may continue to operate the windows safely until the latches are replaced, provided that the tilt latches always remain in the closed position while opening or closing the window. Do not allow children to operate the window until the tilt latches have been replaced.
